Waterford Place, a senior living community, is designed for mature adults 62 and over (spouse at least 50) that desire the comforts, securities, and privileges of home. Our residents choose to gather with others who share similar values, beliefs, and practices, and where families and loved ones seek the assurance of priority access to exceptional care for a lifetime. Waterford Place is being created as an extension of the programs and services of Sunset Association. Our shared mission is to provide quality services for senior adults in the greater Grand Rapids metropolitan area, in the spirit of Christian love.
With longstanding and growing demand for the residential choices offered on its Baldwin Street campus in Jenison and a growing population of vibrant mature adults, Sunset responded to the significant desire for local residential options that offer security, exceptional living, access to future care and affordable pricing. When property at the northeast corner of Port Sheldon and 18th Avenue in Georgetown Township became available, Sunset recognized an ideal location for the creation of a gracious senior neighborhood. The undeveloped site offered the opportunity to create beautiful wetlands, complete with an eight-acre lake, which has become home to local wildlife. Yet, the site is conveniently located near major shopping, entertainment, worship, and travel destinations. The efforts of the project team have produced stunning, efficient residential designs that open to pleasing lakeside vistas.
A fitness facility and access to outdoor exercise will promote the healthy lifestyle practices favored by today’s mature adults. Areas for social involvement have also been incorporated into the design. Should the need for additional care emerge, the life lease agreement associated with Sunset Association provides the assurance that outstanding care is readily available. In sum, the story of Waterford Place is but the latest chapter in the continuing story of exceptional living and care offered through Sunset Association.
For decades, the name Sunset Association has represented the highest standards in retirement community living and stewardship to mature adults. People who live in the Grand Rapids and Jenison areas recognize the not-for-profit Christian organization. They have come to know Sunset Manor and Village as the continuing care community of choice when it comes to selecting a secure and comfortable retirement lifestyle. Due to the outstanding reputation of this well-established Sunset community, the waiting list for residency at Sunset Manor and Village exceeds current capacity.
Sunset Association, however, has not limited its compassion and resources to one program, Sunset Manor and Villages. The Association also carries out its Mission by serving seniors through its Meals at Home program. Everyday, over 100 local seniors enjoy the friendly visit and nutritious meal delivered by a Meals at Home volunteer. In addition, Sunset operates a Medicare certified, home health services and private duty program. With a strong focus on maintaining maximum independence, Sunset Association also operates Brookcrest, a state-of-the-art Christian Rehabilitation and Life Center, located in Grandville, Michigan.
