Independent Living
Spacious and private living quarters at Waterford Place are situated on beautifully landscaped grounds that include a wetland nature preserve complete with a lake. The setting provides an ideal blend of personal comfort, convenient access, and an enjoyable lifestyle. Residents are free to choose the level of independent activity that suits each one best. An enclosed parking garage promotes continuation of safe independent activity and the on-site exercise facility encourages individual and group fitness. A range of group and individual activities, shaped by input first expressed through the Charter Member group, encourages the continuation of an active lifestyle. Of course, for those times when urgent attention is required, a round-the-clock emergency call system is in place.

Assisted Living*

Assisted living will provide a level of personal support that encourages independenceIntentionally included in future plans for Waterford Place, assisted living will provide a level of personal support that encourages independence to the greatest extent possible when residents require a bit of personal care or supervision. Individual attention with bathing, medication management, and observation during the night all are designed to assure personal safety, comfort, and security while maintaining dignity, independence, and an enjoyable lifestyle.

Skilled Care*

Brookcrest, a Christian Rehabilitation and Life Center, is a vital component of Sunset Association. Located on Wilson Avenue in Grandville, Brookcrest is a short distance from Waterford Place and offers a full range of rehabilitation services, as well as extended skilled care, including dementia care. Dedicated, compassionate and professional staff members provide round-the-clock, personalized care, whether the stay is for brief rehabilitation or for a longer term.

Dementia (Alzheimer’s) Care*

While few people wish to think about the possibility of ever being in need of specialty care for dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, the reality is that a percentage of mature adults will require and benefit from services designed to prolong quality of life, even when functioning is affected. Sunset offers this specialty care in its Reflections unit, a secure, assisted living center especially designed for people with early to mid-stage memory loss. The Garden at Brookcrest is a skilled care setting that offers exceptional care for people in the mid and late stages of dementia. Care decisions in Reflections and in The Garden are based on the needs and abilities of each individual and approaches are tailored to bring out the best for as long as possible.

Home Health Services

Sunset’s Home Health Services is a JCAHO accredited, Medicare certified home health agency that serves western Kent County, eastern Ottawa County and surrounding areas, including all campuses operated by Sunset Association. The professional nursing, therapy and care staff work with the attending physician to coordinate all treatment and services from the initial referral, through active treatment and to the point of discharge. Residents of Waterford Place are invited to select Sunset Home Health Services for all their in-home, rehabilitation and home health care needs.

* Special care centers, including Assisted Living, Skilled Care and Dementia Care are offered to Waterford Place residents and are billed according to Sunset’s rate schedule. Waterford Place residents, Sunset Manor, Village I and Village II residents have the assurance that their access to all special care centers takes priority over others who do not live on a Sunset campus. Special care is based on assessment and is influenced by Sunset’s ability to adequately meet the individual needs of each resident. Sunset cannot, in every situation, guarantee that a room in a special care center will be available precisely at the time needed. Sunset does assure its dedicated efforts in working closely with residents and families to assure a timely response to all special needs.
