Update on Waterford Place.

It’s All In Your Head

“It’s all in your head” is a very common expression as is the question “is it me?” Sometimes we say these things to make light of a situation or to bring comfort to someone.  The word ‘hypochondriac’ comes to my mind when I hear the phrase ‘it’s all in your head’.  This condition provoke real symptoms such as, chronic fatigue, an inability to relax, faintness, numbness in the feet, face, head and other parts of the body. You can also develop muscle tension, uncontrollable sweating, shaking or trembling, frequent need to urinate, chest pains and heart palpitations.

The answer to that question really depends on who you are asking the question to.  If I were to ask my teenage daughter that question she may give me her total grade point average or her phone number.  As we grow older, numbers take on a whole new meaning.  Cholesterol, blood sugar, body mass index, blood pressure numbers; there are a lot of advantages to keep track of those numbers to avoid many of the diseases associated with aging.

It seems the older I get the harder it is to stay healthy and active.  Each year at my annual visit to my doctor, I learn new things about myself.  I am told I need to start adding D12 to my diet and here is a new one, Omega 3’s.  When I am feeling tired and lack energy, where do I start to begin to know what my body needs daily?  Is there a simple recipe to follow?
