The Waterford Place Blog

Recently, I was talking with a resident and asked if Waterford Place has changed her normal routine.  She said “My activities are the same, except broadened because of friends here.”  This particular resident’s response is just one example of the many who have found that joining an independent community doesn’t detract from their normal day-to-day life but rather enhances it.  Residents at Waterford Place stay busy playing board games, enjoying the art of theater, attending concerts and hymn sings, social hours and more, thanks to our Life Enrichment Director.

How many different sets of rules does Mexican Train Dominoes have? During Ladies’ Game night we found about 10 sets! Us ladies had a great time catching up with friends, meeting new ones and learning to play the newest version of dominoes.  Chef Steve made prepared healthy snacks of veggies and dip, along with hot coffee and tea. It was a night to remember!

But we can’t leave out the men—today was their day---Men’s Coffee Hour! Residents and depositors joined us this morning in the billiards room and dining room for freshly ground coffee, bagels, breakfast pastries and muffins. Old friends caught up and new friendships were made over the shared love of woodcarving and woodworking.

At Waterford Place there is a lot of talk about “active and independent lifestyles” but what exactly does that mean?

Active and independent lifestyles mean that residents at Waterford Place are better able to enjoy their current lifestyle; without the stress.  Residents stay active by working out in the fitness center, crafting in the Wood Shop or tapping into their creative side in the Arts & Crafts studio.  Residents can connect with old friends, as well as meet new neighbors over a delicious meal in the café. After a day of work or volunteering, residents don’t have to deal with the hassles of maintaining their home, like shoveling snow in these winter months.  At the end of the day, residents have the peace of mind of knowing Waterford Place is staffed 24 hours a day.
