Picnic Pops, July 23, 2009

This Charter Member event was an evening of fun at the Picnic Pops.  Charter Members and staff boarded Sunset buses at 6:45 PM and headed to Cannonsburg Ski Area.  After arriving at Cannonsburg, Charter Members enjoyed a wonderful picnic dinner and began enjoying a night of classical music presented by the Grand Rapids Symphony around 8 PM.  Thursday was a special night at the Picnic Pops because fireworks followed the concert!  After the spectacular show we headed back to the bus and chatted about all the fun we had the entire ride home!

Ladies Night, February 11, 2009

Have you ever played the ice breaker that involves a roll of toilet paper? We introduced ten of our Charter Member ladies to this game and got a load of laughs! With no one knowing what the purpose is (except for Marilyn Mohr), we told each lady to take as much toilet paper as they wanted. Some took 1-2 squares and some took 4 feet! Once we told them that for each square, they had to tell us something about themselves, everyone busted out with laughter! It was fun learning about our future residents, their families, hobbies and the 20 other things some had to talk about. We had a great time playing cards, yahtzee and socializing. This is one event we are sure to do again!

The Rockettes, November 20, 2008

The Radio City Rockette's were amazing! Over 30 Charter Members joined us for this high kicking performance. Best of all, we were in the front rows. We counted at least eight costume changes in the 90 minute performance, but there certainly could of been more. This was a night we will never forget

Mystery Trip, October 9, 2008

The "Mystery" color tour provided the Charter Members with an eventful day! We chartered a bus and headed north to Fruitridge Orchards. We loaded onto a tractor pulled hayride so we could all pick pumpkins and juicy apples to take home. From there, we met "E'yore" the long eared donkey and many of the farm's horses and animals. We relaxed for a moment with pumpkin spice doughnuts and apple cider, then it was off to the next location: Newaygo, to see some beautiful fall colors. The bus had other plans in mind, when it got stuck in the mud, but the tractor was able to pull us out! The eventful evening ended at Timbers Inn, in Belmont where we each enjoyed a satisfying meal!

Blue Gate Theater, Shipshewana, IN – August 9, 2008

If “A cheerful heart is good medicine” (Proverbs 17:22a), then our Charter Members should be feeling great! Our trip to the Blue Gate Theater in Shipshewana, Indiana was filled with laughter as we enjoyed an afternoon show by Chonda Pierce, a Christian comedian from Nashville, Tennessee. A chartered bus offered a comfortable ride to this Amish community where we were able to do some shopping, enjoy a fabulous Amish dinner, and laugh with Chonda Pierce as she shared everyday stories with light-hearted humor and a Christian testimony.

Chase Picnic Pops – July 10, 2008
On this beautiful summer evening, our growing group of Charter Members enjoyed the music of the Grand Rapids Symphony during the Chase Picnic Pops at Cannonsburg Ski Resort. We were entertained with many classical favorites and a dazzling fireworks display following the concert. A delicious picnic dinner was catered by Sunset Association which added that perfect touch to the evening. With the convenience of a prepared meal, transportation provided, and great entertainment, this is sure to become an annual event!

Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite - December, 2007

Over twenty-five Charter Members enjoyed the Grand Rapids Symphonic Band's production of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. The band presents an annual concert series of five to six concerts at various locations in Grand Rapids and surrounding areas. This occasion was preceded by a hors'd oeuvres reception that included chocolate covered strawberries and homemade Christmas treats for everyone.

Tiger's Game - September 6, 2007

A group of Charter Members joined us for a trip to Comerica Park to watch the Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox. This was a wonderful bonding experience; as we enjoyed a comfortable bus ride down complete with Tiger’s trivia and Cracker Jacks.

Picnic Pops - July 26, 2007

Together, our Charter Members and special guests enjoyed the delightful music of the Disney animated film Fantasia, courtesy of the Grand Rapids Symphony. A picnic dinner was provided by Sunset and an incredible fireworks display concluded our evening.

Riverboat Cruise - July 18, 2006

Sit back and relax! That is what the Charter Members did as they joined us for a relaxing lunch cruise on t he Grand Lady Riverboat. Tom & Cheri Hagen sang some old favorites while Charter Members enjoyed the company of their friends and a delicious meal on an exceptionally beautiful afternoon

Color Tour - October 17, 2006

Waterford Place Charter Members and special guests were treated to a West Michigan fall color and covered bridge tour in the Ada, Lowell and Greenville areas. Following the tour was a brief stop at Klackle Orchards to pick apples and pumpkins. At our final destination we enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Winter Inn of Greenville.
